The devotional book my mom gave me for Christmas has been wonderful. I have spent time in prayer and reflection each day and it shouldn't surprise me but it does that I have been feeling better ever since I started. The main theme of this book is how to find Hope in the rain or storm that is currently in our lives. I have named my storm, focused on why I have been standing in it instead of seeking shelter from it, and I am beginning to remember that there will be an end to this storm.
I have always loved the band Creed--and Scott Stapp is an amazing songwriter. They recently got back together and released a new album about a month ago. The first single is called Rain. I heard this song ONE TIME and played it over and over and over on my satellite radio. I couldn't get enough of the lyrics. And this was before Christmas. When I heard the song again this week, it immediately made me think of my devotional book and what I am learning about my personal storm. If you haven't heard the song, check it out. I put the lyrics below also.
Lyrics for Rain by Creed (credit to elyrics)
Can you help me out?
Can you let me a hand?
It's safe to say that
I'm stuck again
Trapped between this life and the light
I just can't figure out
How to make it right
A thousand times before
I've wondered if there's something more
Something more...
I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
So let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
With every tomorrow comes another life
I feel it's gonna rain
For days and days
I feel it's gonna rain
I tried to figure out
I can understand
What it means to live on again
Trapped between the truth and the consequence
Nothings real
Nothings making sense
A thousand times before
I've wondered if there's something more
Something more...
I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
So let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
I feel it's gonna rain like this
Rain like this
Rain like this
Fall down
Wash away my yesterdays
Fall down
So let the rain fall down on me
I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
Let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
I feel it's gonna rain like this
Rain like this
Rain like this
I feel it's gonna rain like this
Rain like this
I feel it's gonna rain like this
I feel it's gonna rain...
Can you help me out?
Can you let me a hand?
It's safe to say that
I'm stuck again
Trapped between this life and the light
I just can't figure out
How to make it right
A thousand times before
I've wondered if there's something more
Something more...
I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
So let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
With every tomorrow comes another life
I feel it's gonna rain
For days and days
I feel it's gonna rain
I tried to figure out
I can understand
What it means to live on again
Trapped between the truth and the consequence
Nothings real
Nothings making sense
A thousand times before
I've wondered if there's something more
Something more...
I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
So let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
I feel it's gonna rain like this
Rain like this
Rain like this
Fall down
Wash away my yesterdays
Fall down
So let the rain fall down on me
I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
Let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
I feel it's gonna rain like this
Rain like this
Rain like this
I feel it's gonna rain like this
Rain like this
I feel it's gonna rain like this
I feel it's gonna rain...
I don't think I need to explain why this song has leapt from the radio at me. The amazing message to me is that my rain sucks right now, but it can also be cleansing. It can wash away all the pain, the years of heartache, the devestation. When the sun does come out, when we finally get through our storm, it will be because tomorrow has brought us another life--we'll be parents, we'll be a family, we'll have our baby. And even though it feels like it will NOT STOP raining, and that this is going to continue for days and days, the end will be the same.
The sun will shine.
