My lengthy two page list of things to do around the house before the baby comes (not counting last minute or work-related stuff) is getting a bit smaller. All week I chose 2 things to tackle each day (like clean out the pantry, organize the linen closet, dust the ceiling fans and lamps, etc), and today my parents are coming over to help shrink the list even more. You'd think I was just the worst housekeeper ever, right? I need my parents to help me clean? Actually, I think it's because most of these to-dos are spring cleaning tasks, and I don't plan on having time in March/April to do a massive spring cleaning--I plan on snuggling with my baby and barely having enough time to do the laundry and keep the kitchen clean. Hence, my desire to scrub the house from top to bottom now.
It's funny because my folks came over in May of last year to help us get ready for our homestudy visits. Of course, we wanted the house spotless and it didn't need to be. We passed and here we are. I am certain that some of the things on my list haven't be cleaned since then. Yep, I guess I am a sucky housekeeper!
We are also getting ready for meeting the EPs on Tuesday. We think only mom is going to be there, but we're not sure. Our SW answered a lot of our questions on Thursday, so we feel pretty good. Really, no matter what, I'm going to be nervous until we are in the situation. But at least I think I know what to expect and how it might go. I am praying very hard that she please please please like us in person v. just based on our profile. I am certain I would crumble if she backed out because she changed her mind about US and not about her decision. But, I know it's not up to me so I will just pray that it goes as it should and that everyone involved is comfortable and happy to move forward.
Well, off to get myself together before the parents arrive. Let the Big Clean commence!

House cleaning is my absolute LEAST favorite thing to do. I bet even I would be motivated, though, knowing that Baby was on its way! Sending so many happy, positive thoughts your way for Tuesday (and the next six weeks or so) to go smoothly.
Hugs,
Jo
We are currently trying to clean for our homestudy. Even though I am not the perfect housecleaner...the house is more of a disaster now than it was a week ago....so much to do.
I wish you the best!!!I hope Tuesday goes really well.
It is always so interesting to me how I can clean one day, and the next day we are back to chaos :).
Hoping your meeting is set for next week...I am sure it will be some sense of relief to meet birthmom...
Seems to me like the Big Clean will feel very therapeutic. Even though it's not any fun, you're doing it now so you don't have to do it in a couple of months when you'll have so many better things to be doing. And I suspect that she's going to like you all even more in person than on your profile. Praying for everything to go smoothly and easily and happily.
Good luck on the early spring cleaning. reading about it makes me exhausted. It's nice to have parents to help you do it too! I hope they are ready to be big helpers when the little one is born!
Good luck on meeting the Birth Mom / Dad. I was wanting to say to you that when people talk the thing that most people remember is the demeanor, the expressions, the feelings that are induced and less so the actual words. As long as you are able to show that you are loving genuine hopeful and caring people I am sure you will be fine. I think all the advice you have got is great. I can't wait to hear how it goes. FX big time. And of course they are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE you!!!
i dont even know you but i am SOOO excited for you!!
sending you hope that after the next couple of months, you will never have a clean house again!
Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that I moved my public blog (again... this is it, I swear!)

Hi Nicole, I really identify with you on the parental visit anxiety. Even when they come with rubber gloves, work clothes and a smile, I feel like a naughty 18 year old who hasn't learned to take care of herself. It's not dirt; its clutter, but my Dad has been known to write Clean Me on the windshield of my car.
Congratulations on your adoption news. I can imagine how excited you are. I'm excited for you! I hope that everything goes well with your EPs. (I had to scroll down thru your blog to figure out what that meant.) Even though it was their request, I hope that you get what you want or need from that meeting.
Best of luck,
Lisa (Your Great Life - ICLW #44)
A little spring weather would make spring cleaning easier, don't you think? I seem to always behind the eight ball (where DOES all that laundry come from?!).
Congratulations on such an exciting time; I'll be sending my absolute best wishes your way.
