Emily had a post from a couple days ago talking about moving from the usual Great Expectations to No Expectations for the New Year. This got me thinking (as reading fellow bloggers usually does) and on our way home last night from celebrating the arrival of 2009, I decided that all in all 2008 wasn't a terrible year. I am a very lucky, blessed woman and as much as the past 12 months held me down, forced me to eat all of my emotions, left me childless and 15 pounds heavier, I cannot complain. But I will do as Emily and not expect that 2009 is going to be any friendlier. I just won't tell him that. Hi, 2009! Welcome to the party!So in this vain, I would like to offer a toast/prayer/wish to all those in Blogland who are excited to leave 2008 in the dust and pursue 2009 as blindly as possible.
Dearest friends--may every disappointment or challenged expectation you encounter in the coming year have an even greater joy waiting on the other side.
I know that I won't ever forget the journey which I have been and am currently on, but I would sure love for it fade into the shadow of my overflowing joy. Blessings to you and yours in the New Year. Here's to joy!
