I had mentioned before that things with my job are all up in the air. We found out 3 days before Tulip was born that my company had been bought out by a larger company in basically the same industry. Even better, we found out that we all have to interview with the new company and hopefully they will have positions for all of us. But they might not. So come end of May/first of June, I may or may not have a job.
The good news is that I have been through this before--I have been laid-off twice before due to "sales force reductions" and trust me, I know that this is the nature of my business. The bad news is that the timing sucks sucks sucks. So while I have just welcomed the daughter I have been working so hard to have, I have also been updating my resume, working on my brag book, and wondering when this will all play out so I can get on with my life back here at home.
Mind you, I am on a personal, UNPAID, leave of absence from my job currently (in lieu of maternity/FMLA which my company doesn't do because it's too small).
So today, I have the first of what looks like a series of interviews with the new company. I'll be in full-suit-interview get-up with my fancy resume paper and my binder touting all my wonderful achievements, chatting with a manager from the new company who really made it sort of obvious that this was not something she was interested in doing but had to anyway. When really, I'd rather be at home with my beautiful 3 week old daughter, snuggling.
Fingers crossed, right?

uugghh...I'm sorry you have to deal with this now, but you sound super prepared.
Best of luck!
Despite the fact that it sucks you have to do this, I hope you rock your interview! :) Luck.
Hopefully the interview goes well!
I know you probably don't want to look at it this way, but also being in an industry that is very slow and where paid leave doesn't exist, the thought has crossed my mind...an unemployment check is better than unpaid leave...
Definitely keeping fingers crossed for you! That's a lot to deal with when you have a little one, but you'll pull thru!
