Our little Tulip was born on Sunday, 3/7. She was 7lbs 8oz & 19in long. So much more to say, but for now some thoughts by BigTex:
It has been an extremely difficult past 4 days since Sunday. In our state, there is a 72 hour waiting period between birth and the time an adopting family can take custody. The 72 hour waiting period was the hardest thing that Nicole and I have ever done. I can’t begin to explain the emotions that we went through during this time period, especially the last 24 hours of the waiting period. However, at approximately 5:00 pm yesterday (Wednesday) we left the hospital with our new daughter. We received a phone call from the birth father at 6:15 am on Sunday that the birth mother was going into labor and that they were leaving for the hospital. We quickly got our stuff together and made it to the hospital at 10:00 am. We were able to spend about an hour with the birth parents prior to delivery and got to meet the new baby 15 minutes after she was born. On Tuesday night, she developed jaundice that required her to have treatments under some special lighting. As a result, the signing of the adoption papers was pushed back by about 3.5 hours yesterday to make sure the jaundice was under control. However, all is well now. I can’t say we got much sleep last night, but I can say that this long road was worth it. Once again, thank you to everyone who has provided support to us over the past couple of years as we have journeyed towards parenthood.
We are smitten with our Tulip, to say the least.
There are not words to express our gratitude for all the prayers, well-wishes, & good thoughts you have been sending over the past few days and weeks. We truly believe that every single one made a difference and we ask that you continue to pray for our daughter's first parents. The real journey is just beginning for all of us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Congratulations, that is so wonderful. I read your blog, but don't think I've commented before. I was so nervous for you, I've read of too many last minute failed adoptions. I'm glad everything worked out for all involved. Your daughter is precious!
