Well, I'm back

In the exact place I left off in April, just with IVF #2. We are waiting today to hear how many of our embryos are growing and look normal, as transfer is scheduled for tomorrow. We had 10 mature eggs (which is UNBELIEVABLE for me) but only 3, maybe 5, looked good yesterday following ICSI on Tuesday. We are hoping for at least two. Our plan is to put three back if we have them, any more will be taken out to blast for freezing. Not convinced that will happen, but like I said we just want at least two.

I found out on Mother's Day that my first IVF was a negative. We had had a rough cycle and ended up with just one embryo that made it to day 5 for a blastocyst transfer. But we only had four mature eggs to begin with due to the over-suppression from the Lupron and the difficulty I had with stimming on my meds. It was a learning cycle if nothing else.

We have since sought a second opinion from another RE, who agreed with the diagnosis of low ovarian reserve (meaning I am running out of eggs in my lone ovary) and sort of classed me as a poor responder. This cycle--which we never planned to do, we just decided in October to give it one more go--we did a different protocol without the Lupron and with different stim meds. I also started at a much higher dose. I only had to stim for 10 days this time, instead of 13 before. And I had 12 follicles that ended up with 10 mature eggs. Needless to say, we are very impressed by my ovary's performance. She did all she could do.
