Phew. And I worked my real job this week (mostly). It feels so good to be moving forward. We still have A LOT to do. Next week, I have my Lap/Hysteroscopy on Friday and by Sunday I hope to being feeling well enough to work on the last parts of our profile--the big parts, like the Dear Birthparent(s) letter. I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off due to the surgery and between movies maybe I will start the required reading and also work on the profile. Nothing like tackling all this head on.

Week One
Well, we received our home study paperwork packet last Friday, March 27. One week in and here is what I have (or we, I guess) have accomplished:
Got our certified marriage certificate from the courthouse
Sent out all our reference requests to those dear IRL friends who have agreed to be our references
Had our fingerprints done for both the FBI and State criminal/background checks
Got our local city criminal checks complete, letter in hand
Got my employer HR reference to verify employment--DH is in progress
Scheduled our physicals with our PC physician--as if I haven't seen a Dr in the last two years!
Scheduled and took our Infant/Child CPR class and got our certification letter
Ordered our required reading from Ama.zon
Scheduled our Baby Care class so we can learn how to dress, feed & diaper a baby (really? I only nannied for like 6 years!)
Scheduled the appointment for next week with the Fire inspector to approve our house
Contacted the health insurance company and got a letter drafted stating our baby will have coverage when placed with us for adoption
Today, we're going to the BMV to get our driving records.

Wow! Again let me say that I'm inspired. That's a serious lot of shit to have gotten done while still maintaining a "real life"! Inspired and impressed, and fascinated to see what happens next.
Wow, you have been a busy lady! It's still so amazing to me how complicated this process is!
Hoping and praying that it is soon complete and you are welcoming a baby home!
Hugs,
Jo
Incredible. Glad to see things are progressing...and although it's not a productive comment, it is so incredibly not right that everyone doesn't have to do these things to have a child....diapering class? seriously?
Whew! And I thought I had a busy week - you go girl!
Do you feel a sense of relief that you have taken back some control over your life? I keep thinking that this IVF cycle is IT for me! I want my life back. I feel like stamping my feet and chanting that - I want my life back, I want my life back! Really, though - how are you feeling?
Wow. I knew adoption required a lot on the part of the adoptive parents, but didn't know just HOW much. Driving records? Really?!
Hi, just wanted to say good luck on your surgery. I had my first lap three weeks ago today and I feel 99% back to normal. Mine was on a Wednesday and I was back to work teaching full-time by the next Monday. Good luck with the surgery and best of luck with your homestudy and adoption!
