We made it 3 weeks

at daycare before Tulip finally fell ill with some kind of crud. I was supposed to be out of town tonight, but around 4PM this afternoon, school called BigTex to have him come early to get her--she had a fever of 101.7! She must have felt really crummy because she was pretty lethargic all day, and she took a 3 hour nap mid-day (which is a record for her at daycare!). By the time BigTex got a hold of me and I got my bags packed, checked out of the hotel and on the road, I still had a 2 hour drive home. Luckily, my parents were nearly home from a long weekend away, and so they graciously swung by to keep BigTex company and assist if needed with the temperature-taking (rectal temping and a fussy baby don't always mix--but I'd be fussy too if someone wanted to take my temp that way!) It was 101.5 when he first took it at home, and 101.1 about 20 minutes later. So while my mom fed Tulip, I conferred with her godfather (who is a peds ER doc) and it was decided she probably was just coming down with a virus. BigTex gave her some pain relief meds (generic thanks to the recall) and an hour later when I got home, her temp was down to 99.8. I was going to give her some more a little while ago at the 4 hour mark but I finally got her to go to sleep after a long and fussy 2 hours--and it feels like she is definitely cooler and calmer now, so I'll just sleep on the couch near her room in case she wakes up.

Can we also give a round of applause to our Peds office--they stay open until 7PM nearly every day, but TODAY...of all days...they closed at 4:30. Of course!

cold compresses (facecloths or washcloths depending on where your from... folded and wet with cold tap water) work really well. i stil use them on myself (even if it is just from abusing too many tasty beverages).

glad to hear the temp is coming down. xoxox
