Just a few thoughts today:
- One set of in-laws arrive this afternoon from Texas to meet Tulip and spend the weekend with us. We are very excited but it has made for a frantic couple of days prepping the house and whatnot.
- I'm trying very hard to let work go--it's not time for me to work so I don't want to waste precious time worrying about what will be there when I do go back in two weeks. I can't and won't do any of it now, so why take time away from Tulip before I have too. Easier said than done, of course.
- We've moved Tulip from a liquid concentrate soy formula to a powder soy formula (cost-driven, of course) and she went from a nominal spitter-upper to a champion-looks-like-nothing-is-going-to-stay-down spitter-upper. Any suggestions? We are committed to a week to see if she just needs time to adjust, and it does not appear to be bothering her at all, but I am worn out from changing clothes, bibs, & doing baby laundry. We didn't have this problem before, but short of returning to the quite costly liquid, we are willing to try anything!
- I am happy for the Travoltas' news about expecting a baby. Any baby is a blessing. But I am so tired of hearing how 47-year-old actresses/celebrities/famous people just miraculously end up pregnant. It drives me nuts that the general public thinks you can just up and get preggo at any age! Maybe she did, don't think I'm that callous. But COME ON...they can't all be that lucky. Can we get an acknowledgement from someone somewhere that pregnant at 47 with one's own eggs is like a 2% reality?
Well, back to the final cleaning of the house before our guests arrive. This weekend will be joyful...and I am really lucky to have this time with my family. That is my focus.

Ohhh -- a weekend full of baby love sounds wonderful! And you definitely should NOT THINK ABOUT WORK until you have to. :-D
I hadn't heard about the Travolta's -- but I am in total agreement. The chances of that happening are so slim....while I am happy for them, I would NEVER encourage anyone I know to wait to have a child. Because, as we well know, it's never quite as easy as you expect it to be.
Giant hugs,
Jo
My thought on the spit up issue is that maybe she's got a soy intolerance and the powder form is less digestible because it is leses processed? I'm no expert lol... Just a slightly educated guess. Good luck figuring it all out for her.
i am not sure on the spitup front, but maybe mixing in a few tbs of rice cereal might help? just a thought.. i know that one of my brothers was on rice cereal from like a week old.. he slept through the nights and everything because he was full.
